The author, R. H. A. Cockrane, MCE MIEAust, is Chief Road and Aerodrome Engineer, Commonwealth Department of Works and Housing, and is also Chairman of the Australian National Committee on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering.

Abstract

The paper describes current practice of the Commonwealth Department of Works and Housing in the design of aerodrome pavements throughout Australia, and the theoretical basis thereof.
