- Description
This paper No.703, by the author K. N. E. Bradfield, DPhil (Oxon) BSc BE (Sydney), JrIEAust, originated in the Melbourne Division of The Institution.
- Abstract
The paper is intended to deal with only one phase of airport engineering - that of the location, design and construction of the landing field. No attempt has been made to discuss in detail such important subjects as airport buildings, airport lighting, radio equipment or airport marking. Furthermore no mention has been made of seaplane or flying boat bases.
The author has attempted to outline the effects of the various factors which may influence the location and the layout of the landing field of the airport. In a later section a brief account is given of the construction work that may be involved in the preparation of the field.
