Abstract

The new railway pier constructed at the port of Melbourne by the Melbourne Harbor Trust has embodied in it the principal modern features in wharf construction. The total length of the pier is 1902 feet, and the total length of railway track on the pier is 3.6 miles. An area of 104 acres surrounding the pier has been dredged to a depth of 35 feet.
