Abstract

In this paper the attempt is made to make available to Engineers, in a form suitable for practical use, the results of the calculations of mathematicians that have been used only to a slight extent in design, if at all, on account of the abstruse way in which they have been expressed. The results for concentrated loads, given at the end of the paper, are it is believed new. Only the case of a slab simply supported round its edges is considered, and the results of the computation for practical use are contained in the Tables I.-VI, given in the paper.
