- Abstract
This article is an abstract of a series of lectures delivered to young engineers with a view to assisting them to the proper investigation of foundation conditions and correct interpretation of the results of boring. It deals with conditions likely to be met in alluvial deposits, properties of various rock types, dislocations in rock masses, and with essential features to be watched in the construction of reservoirs. Many interesting matters are discussed, and attention is drawn to important factors which vitally affect the stability and usefulness of engineering structures.
