Description

Retiring President's address by W. R. Hebblewhite, BE MIEAust, Director, Standards Association of Australia, to the thirtieth Annual General Meeting of The Institution of Engineers, Australia. (At Hobart, on 2nd March, 1950.)

Abstract

After briefly highlighted recent Institution activities, this address focusses on recent international liaison by the Institution and the Standards Associations with other engineering societies and with well established organisations such as: the World Power Conference, the International Commission on Large Dams, the International Organisation for Standardisation, the International Electrotechnical Commission, the International Commission on Illumination, the International Road Congress, the World Petroleum Congress, the International Association for Bridges and Constructional Engineering, the International Gas Union, and the International Railway Union. Through these organisations, through the medium of frequent conferences, a better understanding between citizens of the world can be achieved. Only by a better mutual understanding can the problem of co-operation to bring about a better world order be solved.
