- Abstract
The South Australian wave recording program has been in operation for some 15 years and the experience gained has evolved an efficient and sophisticated system of data collection. The system involves the use of VHF radio and the Telecom switched network for data transmission, an on line computer for the interactive control, storage and analysis of data, and light pen interactive graphics for the inspection and editing of large data sets as well as displaying the results.
This paper includes details of the wave measuring device used, the data links, and the way in which the computer is used in monitoring and controlling the data collection. Some mention of the plans to expand, the system to collect directional wave information is also made. In addition the range of data analysis outputs that are available is discussed.
