- Abstract
South Australia differs from most other States in the broad scope of its coastal management legislation, and in that the coastal engineering function is combined with coastal management and located under the Minister for Environment and Planning. This enables coastal problems to be minimised and leads to effective decision making. Three case histories are provided to demonstrate this - the Metropolitan Adelaide coast. Town Beach Robe, and a holiday house subdivision at Surfers, near Victor Harbor. The Adelaide case history describes a recent review in which all practical coast protection strategies were costed and compared.
