* The R. W. Chapman Medal went to Assoc Prof N. S. Trahair, University of NSW, for his paper entitled "Design rules for the lateral buckling of steel beams";
* The John Madsen Medal went to Prof H. E. Green, RMC Duntroon, for his paper entitled "Some aspects of radio anechoic chambers".
