Abstract

This paper gives an introduction to the theory of models and their use in engineering problems associated with structures, hydraulics and aerodynamics. In addition, typical examples are discussed, some of which relate to investigations carried out in the P. N. Russell School of Engineering, University of Sydney. Generally, the paper is limited to the discussion of models geometrically similar to the prototype, and nothing other than passing reference is made to the use of "distorted" models.
