- Abstract
After surveying primary energy use in Australia since white settlement, the contribution of renewable energy is analysed. Renewable energy projects in Queensland over the years are examined including biomass. hydropower, solar, wind, geothermal, tide and wave. That all these projects can only provide about 60% of primary energy consumption is thought to be disappointing. But a proposal to develop a hydrogen economy based on renewable energy might produce a 30% contribution by 2050 and at the same time reduce pollution and achieve energy conservation.
