- Abstract
Because most communications equipment is physically small, and also dates quickly due to technological advances, few artefacts remain. It is often only possible to bring out the heritage of this engineering discipline by researching written records, including photographs, drawings, handbooks and such. The point is illustrated by a number of case studies. In all engineering disciplines engineers need to ensure that relevant records are retained for heritage purposes. Production of a nationally recognised Historical Manifesto would help preserve records of present works.
