Abstract

A review of the ecological, botanical and management criteria that could be used in the selection of fuelwood species. A list is given of species with potential in the humid tropics, tropical highlands and sub-tropical semi-arid and arid regions: annotations indicate those multiple-use species that also provide edible fruits or fodder, and 25 are selected as high-priority species for seed collection and trials.
