Summary
The Weickhardt Medal for Distinguished Contribution to Economic Advancement has been awarded occasionally by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute since 2007. It recognises significant contribution to the economic advancement of the Australian economy through work in the chemistry area. Leonard Weickhardt, who had a distinguished career in the chemical industry, was President of the Institute from 1958 to 1959 and Chancellor of the University of Melbourne from 1972 to 1978.
