Summary
Australian science abstracts (ISSN 1835-9329) was the first such journal published in Australia. Initiated by the Australian National Research Council it was issued separately up to volume 16, and thereafter as a supplement to the Australian journal of science. Publication from 1955 was by Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science. The aim was to publish short abstracts of papers embodying the results of researches of Australian scientific workers. Categories initially were agriculture, botany, chemistry, geology, mining and metallurgy, pathology and physiology, veterinary science, and zoology. Other categories added later included forestry, anthropology physics, geography, economics and statistics, and engineering.
