Summary
Australian bird bander (0004-8747) was the journal of the Bird Banders' Association of Australia. (The first seven issues carried the title The bird bander: organ of the Bird Banders' Association of New South Wales: the name change reflected that of the parent organisation.). The original purpose for publishing the magazine was to provide a means for exchange of information between those engaged in bird banding, including techniques for trapping and tagging birds. A long-running series of articles reported on seabirds on Australian islands. Book reviews and reports from other ornithological organisations were included. In 1977 Australian bird bander was succeeded by Corella: journal of the Australian Bird Study Association.
