Summary
The Australian Archaeology Association is the Australia's largest archaeological organisation and represents a wide membership of professions, researchers, students and others with an interest in archaeology. Its aims include the advancement of archaeology, provision of an organisation for the discussion and dissemination of archaeology information and ideas, and publicising the need for the study and conservation of archaeological sites and collections. The Association has published the journal Australian archaeology since 1974. Awards made by the Association include Life membership, recognising outstanding contributions to the Association, and the Rhys Jones Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Australian Archaeology.
