Summary

The Department of Sea Fisheries (1985 - 1989) replaced the Tasmanian Fisheries Development Authority (1977 - 1985) in 1985. It took over responsibility for the aquaculture functions carried out by its predecessor including regulation, research, management and development of Tasmania's sea fisheries. In 1989 the Department of Sea Fisheries (1985 - 1989) was merged with the Department of Agriculture [II] (1911 - 1989) to form the Department of Primary Industry (1989 - 1992).
