Abstract

Research which has broken new ground in the structural analysis of footings on expansive soils has shared first prize in the South Australian Engineering Awards for 1979.

It has led to a theoretical framework on which it is hoped, within a few years, to establish the parameters for accurate analysis of foundation behaviour of these soils.

Equal winner of this annual competition, conducted by South Australian Division of the Institution of Engineers, Australia is the South Australian section of the Tarcoola-Alice Springs railway.
