- Abstract
It is often very desirable to determine the number of turns in a coil, or solenoid, without unwinding it. There are a number of electrical methods of obtaining an approximate result. These depend on the measurement of a quantity of electricity passing through a ballistic galvanometer, or fluxmeter, connected to the coil when a known flux is created within the coil. Inaccuracies may arise through magnetic leakage, also any measurement which depends upon the actual throw of a galvanometer, or fluxmeter, cannot be regarded as extremely accurate.
