- Description
This paper No.515, by Norman Charles Harris, DSO MC MSc AMIEAust, and Maurice Austin Remfry, BCE AMIEAust, originated in the Melbourne Division of The Institution, and will be presented at the Engineering Conference, March 1935.
- Abstract
The paper is concerned primarily with the economic aspects of transport in the fields where it is competitive. In this regard it is an endeavour to summarize essentials and to deal simply with a subject which is widely misunderstood.
Commercial motor transport is particularly considered and the economic effect on the community is studied. It is concluded that the rail and shipping services require some form of protection from uneconomic competition.
