Abstract

The Council of The Institution has awarded the R. W. Chapman Medal for 1946 to Professor J. H. Lavery, ME BSc(Oxon.) AMIEAust, for his paper "Continuity in elevated cylindrical tank structures", which was presented before the Brisbane Division of The Institution in August 1946, and was subsequently published in the October and November 1948, issues of The Journal.

In November last, the Warren Memorial Prize was awarded to Professor Lavery for this same paper, and a resume of his professional career appears on page 27 of the Jan-Feb 1949, issue of The Journal.
