- Description
This paper, No.1311, is to be presented before the Engineering Conference, 1958, to be held in Newcastle from 3rd to 8th March, 1958. It was originally presented on 5th June, 1957, before the Weapons Research Establishment Data Processing and Automatic Computing Machines Conference, at Salisbury, S.A., and is now published by permission of the Commonwealth Department of Supply. The author, M. W. Allen, BE, [non-member], is Research Officer, Mathematical Instruments Section, C.S.I.R.O.
- Abstract
The basic computing process of the digital differential analyser is described and alternative forms of machine organisation are indicated. This is followed by illustrative examples of special functions and by a description of the logical organisation of A.D.A. Circuit techniques and assembly and construction methods are discussed. To conclude, the specification of the machine is summarised and several problem diagrams are considered.
