- Abstract
The original proposal for the installation of mechanical handling of mails at the General Post Office, Sydney, was designed by the author, and the completed plant was put under traffic In October, 1930. The installation is more comprehensive than any other mail handling plant in the world because it performs by mechanical means more processes of sorting than have been done elsewhere. The paper is not intended to be a detailed description of all the electrical and mechanical means employed, space will not permit of this, but it is hoped to supply sufficient information to indicate the scope of the work and its possibilities to those who may be interested in providing means for handling mails or similar articles in this or other countries.
