Abstract: This address discusses the progress and developments in the engineering profession, particularly following the recent Conference of Commonwealth Engineering Institutions, and the Council of Engineering Institutions of Great Britain. Emphasis is placed on the need for unification of disciplines, the establishment of standards for professional and sub-profession technical engineering qualifications, and a stronger understanding of our professional Code of Ethics.
