- Abstract
This paper outlines the design of a shop-welded, field-riveted truss span for the Hawkesbury River Road Bridge, N.S.W., which has been almost completed. It describes the selection of truss span, truss system, compares the economics of welded versus riveted construction of truss, and describes design, manufacture and testing of the built-up I sections of the truss members favoured in the truss design, and outlines the method of stress calculation used.
