Abstract

In this paper, the losses for one year occurring on the Adelaide Electric Supply Company's system, South Australia, are considered, and their costs are traced right through the system from the power house to the consumer. These costs are then used in calculanons which show that the use of larger cables, power-factor improvement by condensers, and the least number of voltage transformations, are all economical. At the conclusion, curves are plotted which show the reduction in lost kelvins and the improvement in power-factor over a number of years.
