Abstract

The life, cost of maintenance and repairs, and comparison between timber and reinforced concrete wharf construction, with particular reference to the Auckland (N.Z.) Harbour Wharf are noted in this article. Mr. Hamer, the engineer-in-charge, amplifies recent particulars in "The Commonwealth Engineer," and Mr. C. S. Galbraith, Assistant Engineer, Melbourne Harbour Trust, has contributed interesting views on the subject.
