Abstract

Recently the author and Professor David, of the Sydney university, were appointed by the waterpower committee of the conjoint board of scientific societies, London, to report on the waterpower resources in Australasia. The object is to urge the dominion governments to take up the subject, with a view both to the development of such potential energy, and to the passage of controlling legislation. Figures show that a total of 13,722,000 b.h.p. was available; of this total 8,500,000 b.h.p. is capable of development in Papua.
