- Abstract
This gives the full text of a paper read by the author at recent meetings of the Electrical Association and Engineering Association of New South Wales. Realising that the subject is the most important development in steam engineering since the invention of the steam turbine, the author has naturally dealt with it in an exhausting manner. Some valuable historical facts are given; also the construction and working of the cutting machine for gear wheels, and the application of the geared turbine in electrical plants, in mill driving, and in the propulsion of ships.
