- Abstract
Natural gas has come into prominence as a fuel for electricity generation in Australia following major gas discoveries in several localities. This paper refers to the general question of gas use for this purpose and briefly describes specific installations designed to burn this fuel. The use of gas by The Electricity Trust of South Australia has been described in greater detail as this authority has had nearly five years of experience with gas firing in a major steam power station and has recently brought into operation a primarily peak load station comprising three 52 megawatt gas turbine driven generators.
