- Abstract
This paper describes the main features and the methods of design and construction of the recently completed bridge over the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton, Central Queensland.
It is the longest plate web girder bridge in Australia and compares favourably with the largest of this type yet constructed overseas. The design incorporates several features including web plates of high depth to thickness ratio, twin roller bearings, and erection methods which represent advances on previous Australian practice.
