- Abstract
The new power plant being erected at White Bay, Balmain, for the Government tramway system of Sydney is now in a forward state. The plant should, when completed, vie with the one to be installed for the electrification of the Melbourne suburban railways. Started over two years ago to supplement the increased demand for current, due to new services being opened, the scheme has progressed on solid lines. In its development all the latest and most approved machinery, which is fully described, has been installed, modern practice, with labour-saving appliances, has been introduced throughout, and new ideas gathered from experience at the Ultimo power house have been added. The article, which is a voluminous one, embraces all the chief features of the plant.
