Abstract

Road constructing authorities in Australia are continually improving methods and reducing costs of paving, and it is now possible to construct much greater lengths of serviceable roads for the money available than could be done a few years ago. This article describes and discusses briefly some of the methods of paving now used by the Victorian country roads board for constructing good roads at reasonable cost, pointing out the principal factors that must be taken into consideration in effecting true economy.
