- Abstract
This article describes first a machine and method of working that have been adopted by the Sydney metropolitan water, sewerage and drainage board for laying service pipes up to 2 in. diameters beneath roadways without disturbing the pavement. It then describes a method that was used by the board for pushing a 3 ft. 6 in. steel sewer main through water-charged sand beneath some residences, where trench excavation was impossible.
