- Abstract
Digested sludge derived from municipal sewages presents a problem, often of magnitude, in handling and disposal. In the western world, about half is still disposed to sea and the rest on to or into land. It can be the repository of viruses, pathogenic bacteria, protozoan cysts and worm eggs, together with varying amounts of heavy metals. However, it is used for soil manufacture, turf, grass and even vegetable production. This paper discusses its properties and usage and possible future developments in this country
