Abstract

Control of the disposal of the wastewater from industries in Australia has increased and improved, particularly in recent years with the establishment of environmental protection authorities and the upgrading of municipal plants. Treatment or pretreatment of these wastes must be designed only after thorough examination of the industry and its processes. Pretreatment is essential before discharge to sewer. A number of processes are available for tradewaste treatment including several interesting new ones and the election requires judgement.
