- Abstract
Three ATSE Fellows were among 15 academics who received 50th Anniversary Research Awards acknowledging their exceptional contributions to their fields of research and the community over the 50 years of Monash University's existence.
Emeritus Professor Bruce Holloway AO FAA FTSE - for his discoveries in the genetics of bacteria, which have contributed to the treatment of lung disease and been complemented by major contributions to biotechnology;
Emeritus Professor Ian Polmear AO FTSE - for his pioneering work in light metal alloys, which has led to commercial innovations including the development of an ultra-high-strength aluminium alloy used in the US space shuttle program;
Emeritus Professor Owen Potter FTSE - for his path-breaking work in fluidised reactors and drying, which continues to make an impact on the development of technology to reduce emissions from brown coal.
