Abstract

At times, the structural engineer is confronted with the problem of determining the stresses in the members of space frames, e.g., a tapered hexagonal tower. Often this job does not receive detailed consideration, principally because the designer is not conversant with a ready method of attack. However, the argument set out in this article has been used by the author on several occasions and has been found to give results readily.
