- Abstract
The author, who here records some of the observations that he is making in the course of an extended tour of Europe, deals in the first part of his article with types of cement, describing some of the cements that are now being made and commercially applied, and discussing their individual properties. Following upon this he comments at some length on modern trends in the design of concrete structures, particularising upon the Mareges and Chombon dams, now under construction in France. Next month he will deal with proportioning of mixtures and the manufacturing and placing of concrete.
