- Abstract
The paper describes the basis of design, methods of construction, and results obtained for a 54-in. mild steel pipeline laid above ground and welded electrically into a continuous line. The pipe is part of a duplication of the conduit conveying water from the Chichester Reservoir to Newcastle. Expansion and contraction due to temperature changes are prevented by reinforced concrete anchorages which are designed to resist forces due to temperature and to water pressure.
