- Description
Retiring President's address by Walter Eric Bassett, MC MMechE BEE MIEAust, to the twenty-third Annual General Meeting of The Institution of Engineers, Australia. (At Melbourne, Victoria, 29th March, 1943.)
- Abstract
Reflecting on the war and previous wars, this address explores the rapid changes and industrialisation that have been necessitated by war; the role that engineers have played - including specific mentions of leading members of The Institution; man power and The Institution; aircraft production; allied works; air-conditioning of munition plants; military hospitals; and the RAAF low-pressure chamber. Brief mention is made of solving other complex technical problems, such as communications under different atmospheric conditions, and solving problems in submarines and tanks.
