- Abstract
It is not widely understood in the community that Australia, a country which earns most of its export income from agricultural products and minerals, was, by early this century, a very industrialised country. In the nineteenth century most of our industrial plant and even our railway tracks and rolling stock were imported, but by the 1920s we were self-sufficient in the supply of most of our steel products and engineering plant.
