- Abstract
The progression from manual to machine power in producing grain crops in Australia since white settlement is reviewed. Modern technology has made Australian farmers amongst the most efficient in the world in terms of output per man. The place of Australian harvesting innovations is examined in the setting of world developments, and prospects for the three remaining Australian manufacturers of grain harvesters are discussed.
