- Abstract
The Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society was formed in 1973, and is dedicated to the preservation of the narrow gauge railway built in 1879 through the Pichi Richi Pass near Quorn in South Australia. The Society is run entirely by volunteers, and operates the railway as a working museum. The Society believes that if heritage is to be a resource of value to the community, it must be displayed in an authentic manner and interpreted as fully as possible. The railway is operated in the original environment with as much original equipment as available, and using the knowledge and skills of the original operators.
