It discusses the separate developments in Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria, Western And South Australia. The report reviews the development of national highways from explorers' routes, methods of pavement construction and the development of bridges. A study is given of Australian transport history, beginning with early transport, carts and wagons and stage coaches and buses, taxis and trams.
