- Abstract
This paper looks at the preservation of mining heritage in Australia, and emphasises its importance, historically, to the development of Australia. The author gives details of the nickel boom of the 1960/70s in Western Australia, and its end with the closing down of the Windarra Nickel Project. He looks at the goldrushes before it; and gives examples of some of the heritage buildings associated with the mining booms.
