- Abstract
The Department of Main Roads and the State Rail Authority are responsible for most of the historically significant bridges in New South Wales. Following a brief historical review, the paper summarises the collective experiences of the authors in the matters of historical documentation, maintenance, conservation and preservation of bridges, and offers comments on when heritage of bridges start, how it can be promoted, and how engineers and the public can be involved.
