- Abstract
This paper is a case study of an iron Whipple truss railway bridge just west of Lewisham, Sydney. The bridge was built in 1886, and is the only one of its type on the railway system in New South Wales, and is therefore, of engineering historical interest. This paper shows how and from where, the historical information was obtained. Historical research is fraught with frustrations and disappointments, but there are feelings of elation when patient searching is rewarded by disclosure of the relevant information.
