- Abstract
This paper describes the work done as part of a Level IV Design Project in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Adelaide in conjunction with the History Trust of South Australia to develop the Contemporary Technology Collection. Before any actual collecting could be undertaken the scope and direction of the project had to be defined. Selection criteria for items to be included in the collection were developed as part of this process. Research methodology was developed with the use of six case studies. The tools needed to support this new work within the Trust were evaluated and put in place. The collection requirements, tools, and procedures were summarised in a manual which may now be used as a guide in the development and maintenance of the collection.
